As you may know, OHIP pays for most of your medical visits to my office but there are certain services
that you may request that are NOT COVERED. These are defined as UNINSURED SERVICES. While
these may seem to some as insignificant requests or just a quick signature, I can assure you that we
spend considerable time daily fulfilling these requests. Family medicine has no such thing as a quick
signature or note.
Effective August 1, 2025, our office will begin using Docnote to charge for uninsured services and pay the annual fee online.
Docnote is platform that allows you, as a patient, to request, pay for uninsured services and enrol in the annual plan offered by our office.
Docnote will improve office efficiency by reducing unnecessary calls and visits to the office, as well give
you transparency about your uninsured service requests. Docnote is intended specifically for
requesting uninsured services and should not be used to schedule appointments or ask medical
questions.
We encourage all patients to create an account at www.docnote.com even if you are not currently using these services to prevent delays in future uninsured services.
If you have any issues creating your account the staff at Docnote are great at assisting patients! Don't hesitate to give them a call at 1-866-236-6172.
Prescription refills is one of the most frequently used uninsured services. Prescription refills requested outside of an appointment are not covered by OHIP and is subject to an uninsured service fee.
Patients can request their pharmacy to fax a prescription refill request to the office. Once a prescription refill is authorized by Dr. Southcott it will uploaded into your Docnote account and you will be notified by email. The prescription will be faxed to your pharmacy once payment is received.
Please do not create a Docnote request for prescription refills.
